Description
Philippe Homsy has always carried a passion to push boundaries and challenge the norm. After University he immersed himself into Soho’s media playground at global powerhouse Yahoo! growing to become Global product manager. In 2008, Philippe & his co-founders founded their first joint professional venture, Butterfly Twists – the first ever women’s ballerina brand that exclusively made vegan footwear. Over the next eight years, the brand ascended to global success, selling 3.5million pairs in 66 countries around the world, achieving tens of millions in sales. The rollercoaster expansion of Butterfly Twists spring-boarded Philippe from their kitchen table in Shepherd’s Bush into the world of mass manufacturing. Each journey to the Far East forced the founders to confront the realities of overproduction and environmental damage caused by the fashion industry. Standing in a warehouse the size of a football stadium with 70,000 pairs of shoes in front of them, Philippe and the team made the decision to leave Butterfly Twists and focus on developing a new, more progressive shoe brand that would champion change in the industry and focus on creating a brand that was 100% focused on cruelty free, sustainable footwear. – LØCI was born.
LØCI launched in 2021 with a collection of 100% vegan luxury sneakers. Described by Fast Company as the sneaker company “breaking all molds” backed by actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio, the 18-month-old start up is disrupting the industry with a focus on style purpose. With environmental conservation at its core, 10% of profits on every online pair of LØCI sneakers purchased are donated to protecting wildlife.Meet the artist
